Excuse me? How is it the end of September already? I have had a mixed month life-wise, but book-wise it was great.
At the end of August Mount Ted was 328 books high. I’m pretty sure at some point I forgot to add some books to my Goodreads Mount Ted list because the numbers are all squiffy. I’m not good at maths. That’s why I spend so much time reading books, ok? So, this month I added 12 books to my TBR (you can see my latest haul post here), and I read 18 books: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Ketchup Clouds, Summer Bird Blue, Colour Me In, The Explorer, And Then We Collided, The Bookshop Girl, The Nowhere Emporium, True Sisters, The Silent Patient, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, I Invited Her In, A Girl Called Owl, Other Words for Smoke, The Truth and Lies of Ella Black, Perijee and Me, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, and Letters from the Lighthouse. I also DNFd 4 books this month.
My TBR is 334 books high. See how bad I am with the maths? Very bad. I do not understand.
Where in the World?I’m still on 5/6 for this and still need to read something from either South America or Antarctica.
Magic Square – This month I have ticked off one more for this challenge: the book viper monthly read (Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine), making 22 out of 25.
Book Riot Read Harder – In September, I read The Truth and Lies of Ella Black (set in Brazil) and I DNF 4 books (so I am counting one of these as the assigned book you hated, since I no longer get assigned books). I also re-read two of the Harry Potter books which I believe have been banned in some places. This brings me to 12 out of 24, which is further than I thought I would get with this challenge.
Netgalley Crackdown – 3 of the 4 books I DNF in September were Netgalley reads, and I read 3 others: The Truth and Lies of Ella Black, Colour Me In, and Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine. This gives me 9 books left to clear my Netgalley shelf.
How was your month? What are your bookish highlights this month?
I have the Nowhere Emporium and the Elsewhere Emporium on my TBR too. What did you think of Truth and Lies of Ella Black – I have to admit, I wasn’t a fan. Harry Potter is top of my list of books to re-read, but I never get round to it!

I gave Ella Black 2* I enjoyed it initially but it got a bit ridiculous very quickly. The Nowhere Emporium is amazing.

I’d muck up the numbers if I tried to keep track of my TBR too- I 100% sympathise! 18 books is amazing, I’m very much in awe! Am I allowed to be nosy and ask what you DNF?

Nine books to clear your Netgalley shelf isn’t bad!! I always make the mistake of requesting books in bulk, thinking they’ll never approve any… lo and behold a few days later I’m always saddled with more than I can handle haha. Good luck for October!

That’s what I did to get my shelf so high in the first place 😂 I’ve been really strict about not requesting more. Good luck with your list!
