Six for Sunday: An Ode to Debut Authors

s4s

Steph is killing it with these prompts. This week’s #SixforSunday is an ode to debut authors, so I am sharing six authors whose debut books were so brilliant they instantly hit my autobuy list.

1. Sarah Maria Griffin. Spare and Found Parts blew me away. Other Words for Smoke is outstanding. I will buy anything and everything this woman writes.

2. Akemi Dawn Bowman. Look, Akemi has featured on enough of my lists for you to know by now that Starfish broke my heart and helped me heal. Of course she features on this list.

3. Shea Earnshaw. The Wicked Deep was just brilliant. I am still not over this book and I look forward to more books from Shea.

4. Sophie Anderson. The House With Chicken Legs is just everything. I am eagerly anticipating The Girl Who Speaks Bear.

5. Holly Jackson. I was lucky enough to get a proof of The Good Girl’s Guide to Murder at YALC last year and I can’t wait for everyone else to read this brilliantly twisty book.

6. Alexandra Christo. To Kill a Kingdom featured the dark stabby mermaid of my dreams. I am all here for everything else Allie writes.

Which debut authors made it to your autobuy list after just one book?

  1. I also can’t wait for the Girl Who Speaks Bear, and I am desperate for Holly Jackson’s debut. Jess Butterworth, Tamsin Winter and Vashti Hardy all became auto-reads after one book.
