Forgive me, for I have broken the rules of my reduced book buying promise. It has been seven weeks since my last haul. Join me in a coffee whilst I look at what I’ve added to Mount Ted TBR since then.
The Coffee:
Today I’m drinking Tweega, a Tanzanian coffee from Steampunk with tasting notes of tinned peaches and mixed peel. Its a good coffee.
The Books:
So, the rules I set myself earlier this year were that books I bought needed to be for events or ones I intended to read ASAP. Feel free to laugh, I am. Of course I haven’t stuck to that.
Bought for Events
The Near Witch by V.E. Schwab.
Shades of Magic vol 1: The Steel Prince by V.E.Schwab
Both of these were bought for an event with V. E. Schwab in Newcastle during her UK tour for The Near Witch. The comic book was a last minute purchase after hearing so many awesome things about it that night.
Bought and Already Read
I am quite pleased to say that I have read and loved all of these in the last seven weeks. They’re all brilliant reads in very different ways and I hope to have reviews for each of them written soon.
Everdark by Abi Elphinstone
Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon
Circe by Madeline Miller
Rule Breaking Buys
The Everlasting Rose by Dhonielle Clayton. This is the sequel to The Belles which I adored. Samantha Shannon recommended it during her event in February, so I picked up a copy. this is the one book on this list I genuinely do intend to read imminently.
The Binding by Bridget Collins. It had purple sprayed edges. I am weak. Also, at least four different people recommended this to me whilst I was in the queue to see V.E. Schwab.
The following were on buy one get one half price offers. I am weak. They all sound excellent.
Internment by Samira Ahmed
Witchsign by Den Patrick
Grey Sister by Mark Lawrence
Once and Future by Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy
Proofs / Advanced Copies
These books were all sent to me by the publishers in exchange for a fair and honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the books in any way.
I’m pleased to say that I’ve already read four of these, and I’ve reviewed two of them already. Look at me pretending to be competent! Reviews of the other two will be up very soon!
The Red Scrolls of Magic by Cassandra Clare and Wesley Chu
The Paper and Hearts Society by Lucy Powrie
The Furies by Kate Lowe. This one was an old Netgalley request that I have just been approved for and was not expecting. I am very excited to read this one.
The Disconnect by Keren David
Other Words for Smoke by Sarah Maria Griffin
Scar by Alice Broadway
Given by Friends
All the Lonely People by David Owen. This was given to me by the lovely Kelly of Kelly’s Rambles.
The following were all sent to me by Amy of Golden Books Girl when she did a recent clear out, and I am very pleased she did!
Asha and the Spirit Bird by Jasbinder Bilan
Talking As Fast As I Can by Lauren Graham
Vote for Effie by Laura Wood
What books have you been adding to your TBR recently? Have you read any of the ones on my list?
I’m so looking forward to seeing what you think of the ones I sent! I really enjoyed Everdark too.
I am tempted by Priory but still on the fence, and am so excited for Paper and Hearts Society being out soon!

Those people in the queue were right – The Binding is wonderfully atmospheric and a fantastic tale. Enjoy.
