Another Thursday, another tag I stole from Amy at Golden Books Girl. This is the Bedtime Book Tag! This will be my last post for a few days whilst I take a break for YALC. I am so excited for a few days away in London with my faves.
1. What book kept you up all night reading?
Most recently, Viper and Eleanor and Park. I read both in the same night. It was not a good night for sleep anyway, but these two books are both amazing in very different ways and I couldn’t put them down.
2. What book made you scared to go to sleep?
Fir by Sharon Gosling. Cora recommended this one to me, and I am still not over it. Intensely creepy and not one to read if you live anywhere near trees.
3. What book almost put you to sleep?
At the risk of copying Amy: Two Can Keep A Secret by Karen McManus. I loved Karen’s first book but I couldn’t get on with this one, I wasn’t invested in the story, and I didn’t enjoy the whodunnit aspect.
4. Which book had you tossing & turning in anticipation of its release?
I’m not sure I’ve ever lost sleep over a book release, but The Book of Dust by Philip Pullman probably comes closest. I wanted that book for so, so long.
5. What book has your dream boyfriend?
The Sorrow duology by Melinda Salisbury. Luvian Fen is an absolute dreamboat.
6. What book would be a nightmare to live in?
The Extinction Trials by S.M. Wilson. The books are amazing, but I would definitely be eaten alive by a dinosaur.
7. What book reminds you of nighttime?
The Twisted Tree by Rachel Burge. All the action in this book happens at night. This book is super creepy and dark, and well suited to reading at night if you don’t intend to sleep.
8. What book has a nightmarish cliffhanger?
Sweetpea by C. J. Skuse. That ending is something else. It made me want to pick the next book up immediately, and I would have if I hadn’t been on a book buying ban.
9. What book have you actually dreamt about?
The Priory of the Orange Tree. I dreamt I was a dragon rider. In reality I would be far too terrified to climb on the back of a dragon. I also once dreamt I was trapped in a car with Silyen, Dog and Luke from Bright Ruin, and I’m still not entirely sure if that was a happy dream or a terrible nightmare.
10. What fictional monster would you not like to find hiding under your bed?
Vespus Corrigan from the Sorrow duology? He’s a monster right? If not, then any of the demons from the Shadowhunter books. Or just anyone. There is not one single being that I would actually like to find under my bed, thanks.
Have you done this tag? If you have, I’d love to see your answers. If not, and you want to give it a go: consider yourself tagged!
I love this. I might steel this myself. Have a great time at YALC.

You have so many books mentioned that are on my TBR and it sounds like I need to get to some of them sooner than later based off your descriptions! Fun tag and answers!

Viper, Sorrow duology, and The Extinction Trials. I’ve honestly not heard anyone talk about the first two, which is why I’m especially intrigued.

Viper is amazing. That’s pretty new out. I’m surprised you’ve not heard of Sorrow because they’ve been really popular the last year or so – I hope you enjoy them if you read them.

Loved reading your answers to this! I’m glad Two Can Keep a Secret seems to be disappointing everyone and not just me, and Vespus is 100% a monster. And Luvian is such a dream boyfriend 😍😍😍

Really enjoyed reading your answers to this.
I’ve heard Priory of the Orange Tree mentioned a lot but don’t really know much about it – can you fill me in?!

It’s a feminist fantasy, retelling of George and the Dragon. Lots of feminist commentary. Brilliant cast of characters. Dragons. It’s BIG. It’s split into 6 books though so seems like a quick read.
