Aoife from Pretty Purple Polka Dots has been killing it with the spooky tags recently. This Addams Family one is one I saw on her blog. I absolutely loved the Addams Family growing up. Wednesday was my idol (and still is), so I had to pinch it!
Morticia Addams, the mother and a witch. What is your favourite witch book?
I have read so many amazing witch books lately and loved them all. I’m going to say Sanctuary by V.V. James for a recent one, because this was a thrilling read and happens to be my review book for tomorrow! All time favourite? Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman.
Gomez Addams is a loving father. Who is your favourite fictional dad?
There are not many dads in my books that stand out, which is probably a sad thing. David Hooper from Maz Evans’s Who Let the Gods Out? stands out from recent reads. He’s not physically there much in the books, but when he is, he’s a top dad. Also, Arthur Weasley from the Harry Potter books. He’s an amazing dad.
Uncle Fester Addams can generate electricity. What books make you light up so much that you can’t stop talking about it?
The Northern Lights and Book of Dust books by Philip Pullman. I’ve loved Lyra and her daemon Pantalaimon from the first pages of Northern Lights, and I am absolutely loving being back in this world with La Belle Sauvage and The Secret Commonwealth. I cannot wait for the final book in this trilogy.
Wednesday Addams is obsessed with death. If you could have killed off a character in any book who would it have been?
Can I kill off Mayor Longsight and Jack Minnow from Alice Broadway’s Ink trilogy with my bare hands? Because those two. They make Leora’s life hell and cause so much hatred and division. They are control freaks and one of them has a massive God-complex. They are just the worst.
Pugsley Addams has a vicious nature and plays nasty pranks on everyone. Who is your favourite villain?
For being the most villainous villain of ever, it has to be Vespus Corrigan from Melinda Salisbury’s Sorrow duology. I do not like him in one tiny little bit. He is a despicable man with no redeeming features and he makes my skin crawl. But, I also loved to hate him throughout the duology.
Lurch is based on Frankenstein and a zombie. What is your favourite adaptation of a story?
Oh,without a doubt it is Spare and Found Parts by Sarah Maria Griffin, which is a post-apocalyptic re-imagining of Frankenstein. I absolutely adored this book. Sarah has the most beautiful way with words and this is a gorgeous story with a slow, creeping horror about it. Absolutely loved it.
Grandmama is an old classic witch. What is your favourite old classic horror book?
Nope. Do not enjoy horror. Abort mission. That said, Goodreads thinks The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is a horror, so if I can count that, then this would definitely be an old favourite. I also loved Anne Rice’s vampire series, although I am not sure they count as old classics. Basically, zero horror for Charlotte. Thanks.
