Another Thursday, another tag I’ve pinched from Steph. This is one Steph did ages ago, but it looked a lot of fun, so here we are.
“Tale A Old As Time” – a popular theme, trope, or setting you will never get bored of reading.
Love triangles. I know a lot of people hate them, but if they’re done well, I’m a big fan. I enjoy the drama of it. I would hate to be involved in one in real life, but I’ll take one in my books, thanks.
Belle – a book you bought for a beautiful cover, that’s just as beautiful inside.
The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo. The cover of this book is stunning, and the stories inside are beautifully dark and twisty.
Beast – a book you didn’t expect much from by pleasantly surprised you.
The Cabin at the End of the World by Phil Tremblay. This was recommended to me ages ago by someone in my local Waterstones. I’ve put off reading it for ages, but S chose it for my February TBR, so I picked it up and ended up devouring it in one sitting.
Gaston – a book everyone loves but you don’t.
I gave up finishing books I don’t love a long time ago, but the one that springs to mind for this is Caraval by Stephanie Garber or When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon. Both were just alright for me. I definitely didn’t love them.
Lefou – a loyal sidekick you can’t help but love more than their counterpart.
Wolf from Viper’s Daughter. 100% love Wolf more than all the humans in this book. To be fair, I will always love wolves more than most humans.
Mrs Potts, Chip, Lumier, and Cogsworth – a book that helped you through a difficult time or that taught you something valuable.
Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowman and Fierce Fragile Hearts by Sara Barnard. Both of these books spoke to me on a very personal level and I read both at times in my life when they meant the world to me.
“Something There” – a book or series that you weren’t into at first but picked up towards the end.
I don’t really have one? If I’m not into a book or a series, I’m likely to DNF it, and certainly not pick up more from the same series.
“Be Our Guest” – a fictional character you’d love to have over for dinner.
Alva from Hold Back the Tide. I would love to sit down with her over dinner and have a little chat, see how she’s getting on.
Have you done this tag? Which fictional character would you like to have over for dinner?
Ooh excellent tag, I am absolutely going to give this a go in the future! Excellent answers too 🙂 I was the same with Caraval.

It was such a fun tag. I don’t get the Caraval hype at all. But there are few people who seem to agree with me.
