ThursTag: Behind the Book Blogger

Hello! It is ThursTag, so I am back with a tag I stole from Steph. I am nothing if not predictable.

The Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you – I would but I stole it so…
  • Answer all the questions down below
  • Pingback to the creator: Ellyn @ Allonsythornraxx
  • Nominate 5+ bloggers you’d like to know more about to do this tag

Why did you start blogging? Why have you kept blogging?

I used to have a blog years ago, before S was born and before I started book blogging, and I loved having a little corner of the internet. I fell out of doing it because LIFE and REASONS. Then I discovered my now pal Steph in the Twitter replies to our local Waterstones. I met her at a book event, along with Cora and discovered the book blogging community. And that’s how this little blog of mine was born. I keep doing it because I love reading and talking about books, and I love my book blogger pals and the little community of awesome book nerds I found here.

What is your favourite type of blog post to write?

Oh, this is tricky. I love a good tag like this one. I love doing reviews for my favourite books, even though I find writing about my faves so hard!

What are your top three favourite blog posts?

All of my Views from New Zealand posts from my first Blogmas in December 2017 (which I tried to do whilst touring New Zealand).

My blog tour post for Children of Blood and Bone where I used my own photos to do a couple of moodboards.

My review of State of Sorrow by Melinda Salisbury.

What are some of your favourite things to do to relax?

Reading. Having a cup of coffee in the garden. Blogging. Browsing bookshops. Running. Yoga. Baking.

What are three of your favourite things?

Coffee, books, and cake.

What are your proudest blogging moments?

Being nominated for a UKYA Blogging Award was obviously a highlight. But more than that, it’s having other bloggers and authors I can call my friends, and seeing my pals do amazing things like chairing events.

What are your hobbies outside of blogging?

Reading. Baking. Drinking coffee. Buying books. Yoga. Running. Eating. Napping. Knitting. Photography.

Describe your personality in three words.

Emotionless feral witch.

What are your top three pet peeves?

  1. Racism, transphobia, homophobia, sexism, elitism – basically anyone thinking they are better than other people, or that they have the right to debate someone else’s worth or existence.
  2. Rudeness and lack of consideration. It costs nothing to be polite.
  3. People not being able to follow the rules (especially around covid)

What’s something your followers don’t know about you?

I feel like I’ve said this before on the blog, but one of the lesser known things about me is that I used to be an army cadet. I have an average reading speed of 600-650 words per minute which apparently makes me a freak. I have a birth mark on my left knee that looks like a footprint.

I’m not tagging anyone to do this, but if you want to do it then consider yourself tagged! And let me know something that your followers don’t know about you?

  1. I adore you, you emotionless feral witch!

That is a freakishly fast reading speed, well I’m assuming so, I’ve never had mine tested so I have no idea what mine is or what is average…
