ThursTag: Count To 10 With Me Tag

It is Thursday again, and I’m back with another tag I pinched from Steph’s blog. Thanks Steph! This week it’s the Count To 10 With Me Tag.

1. First Book In A Series

The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna. I was thrilled to discover there was going to be a second book because I loved this world and these characters, and I definitely need more.

2. Two Or More Copies Of The Same Book

State of Sorrow by Melinda Salisbury. I don’t often get second copies of books but Mel was writing great things in them, and there was an adorably misprinted sprayed edge one that I loved and needed to adopt.

3. Three Colours On The Cover

So many of my books could fit this prompt, but my most recent book with three or more colours is The Once and Future Witches by Alix. E. Harrow.

4. Four Or More Perspectives

I had to really wrack my brains for this one, but eventually came up with FLOORED by Sara Barnard, Holly Bourne, Tanya Byrne, Non Pratt, Melinda Salisbury, Lisa Williamson, and Eleanor Wood, which not only has seven authors but also seven perspectives.

5. A Five Star Read

I haven’t been rating my books this year, but one that would absolutely be a 5 star read for me is Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley. It’s a brilliant debut, and you should get it on your TBRs.

6. Six (Or More) Short Stories

I don’t read many short story collections, but I do have one on my TBR: A Phoenix First Must Burn edited by Patrice Caldwell, which has sixteen short stories in it.

7. A Seven On The Cover Or Spine

Seven Days of You by Cecelia Vinnesse, which I am really ashamed to say I still have not read. Although I have heard only good things about it.

8. Eight Letters In The Title

I am going to have to copy Steph for this one and say Boy Queen by George Lester, which is my most recently read book with an eight letter title, and also absolutely amazing!

9. Book Ends On A Page Ending In A Nine

The Midnight Hour by Benjamin Read and Laura Trinder, which according to The StoryGraph has 279 pages. It turns out it’s harder to find a book that ends on a page ending in 9 than I expected it to be.

10. Ten Books In The Series

I don’t know if this counts or is cheating slightly, but the Shadowhunters books by Cassandra Clare are all a sort-of series and there are definitely more than ten of those.

Have you read any series with more than ten books in?

      1. I’m really finnickety with fantasy (so unhelpful I know!) I might see if I can read a sample page or two on kobo where I get my ebooks then decide. It’s one I feel I really should read and would potentially like but I worry it’ll just be too fantasy for me!
