Six for Sunday : Summery Colours

Six for Sunday, hosted by my favourite one of them all (Steph) is back for a new month with a new theme. These are genuinely my favourite posts to write each week; I look forward to seeing what prompts Steph is going to torture me with next. July’s theme is Sounds of Summer, featuring all kinds of summery themes and kicking off with summery colours. Summer colours for me are bright and bold, and I’ve chosen six books from my gradually shrinking TBR that fit the bill.

1. A Kind of Spark by Elle McNicoll. I love the contrast of bright pink and blue on this cover. It’s really striking and is one of the things that made me pick it up.

2. This Book is Gay by Juno Dawson. Who doesn’t love a bright rainbow cover on a book? As well as being the Pride flag colours, they’re also brilliantly summery.

3. Little Liar by Julia Gray – Orange is one of those colours that I associate with both autumn (crunchy leaves) and bright summer sunsets.

4. Rainbow Grey by Laura Ellen Anderson – Rainbows and lightning aren’t what many people would associate with summer, but I love a good summer storm and that’s the vibe this cover gives me.

5. Can You See Me by Libby Scott and Rebecca Westcott – is there anything that screams summer more than a bright blue sky with fluffy white clouds? I think not.

6. Kite Spirit by Sita Brahmachari – This is such a joyful cover. It reminds me of being a kid in summer on the swings thinking I could fly. And the blue sky and bright sun are a definite summer vibe.

What summery coloured covers can you think of? Have you read any of these books from my TBR?
